Perfect Day was a collaboration I was brought onto after my work on In the Mud and got to know artist dEM aTLAS. After seeing him perform to a room full of fans, on stage loosely flailing and jumping wildly, it became clear to me that his song Perfect Day was an anthem for what his fans felt seeing his stage persona. I wanted this shoot to be reflective of that freedom and his charisma as a performer. We scripted and blocked our first scene before moving into a guerilla style approach to shooting and capturing the spirit of a summer day spent in one our favorite neightborhoods, the vibrant and overlooked area of Midway in Saint, Paul, MN. 

From the people we engaged with to the on-the-go shooting techniques me and JC (Calubayan, cinematography) improvised on site, this remains one of my favorite collaborative projects.
