In the Mud was a song I had been drawn to because of the frustration projected by the narrator (musician dEM aTLAS). It was a frustration I shared at the time of feeling trapped by expectations of others and conformed tastes. It opened my eyes to the connection we all have through the epidemic of loneliness. Everywhere I looked, I saw people right next to each other, staring down rather than at the world moving right in front of them. Broken spirits trapped in their own despair, the confines made by fear and systemically imposed responsibilities. I wanted this proejct to show (specifically by the interconnecting flow of editing) that behind our veils of public persona, we are all lost in the same fears. Connected through the our collective loneliness.
